Weekly written tests are given throughout the school year. This continuous assessment based on our School Curriculum helps to evaluate the student’s progress. The tests are sent home and do not need to be returned. At the end of each term the students may write local, externally – set exams based on the Kenyan syllabus. These help the school to evaluate our children in relation to the schools in our area. AWARDS, HONOUR ROLL AND MERIT ROLL We believe that unusual efforts and achievements should be rewarded. It is Scriptural that we should “… press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus…” Averages will be calculated on the basis of end-of-term exams only. Students are placed on the Honour Roll according to the following achievements. Lower Primary Standards 1 to 3 Honour Roll All “As” Merit Roll All “As” and “Bs” Upper Primary Standards 4 to 8 Honour Roll High B average, 86 and above average Merit Roll Low B average, 80 and above average A list of Honour and Merit Roll students will be published at the end of each term. In addition, awards will be given for special achievement in various areas at the end of the school year during the Prize Day ceremonies. REPORTS AND RECORDS Report cards are issued to each student at the end of the term. The cards are to be signed by one of the parents and returned to the teacher. No reports are issued unless financial accounts are paid in full. Half-term reports are written to indicate general progress. They include a review of weekly tests, scores and comments by the teacher.
Textbooks are the property of Thika Road Christian School and should be handled with care. Students will be asked to pay for any unusual wear or tear which results from carelessness and abuse. Students must replace any books that are lost. All upper primary students should have a KING JAMES VERSION of the BIBLE as their personal possession.
